Sessions are usually weekly to begin with, although that is agreed between you rather than fixed in advance. Some people come for a handful of sessions with a clear, narrow focus. Others stay for a longer stretch of work. Neither is more correct than the other.
What you say in a session is confidential. The limits to that are the ordinary legal and ethical ones, and they are explained plainly at the start rather than buried. As part of registration requirements, psychotherapists attend regular professional supervision, and client identities are held anonymous within it.
